EDELRID BIRDLIME 1R 9.8 mm is the world's first synthetic climbing rope made from renewable raw materials . More than 40% of the material comes from castor oil, which means less fossil fuel consumption and an important step towards sustainable climbing equipment. The rope is made in Germany and is part of the sustainable #ClimbGreen collection, which combines safety, performance and environmental responsibility.
With a diameter of 9.8 mm and Thermo Shield treatment, it offers a comfortable grip and a long service life. Thanks to 3D Lap Coil technology, the rope is ready to use immediately after unwinding - without knots or tangling.

Thermo Shield treatment for perfect handling
The thermal stabilizing process ensures that the core and sheath yarns are perfectly balanced. A special heat treatment cure first relaxes then shrinks the rope's fibers. This harmonizes the gliding characteristics of the yarns inside the rope and ensures that it remains compact and supple throughout its life. It also ensures that the rope does not shrink or becomes stiff.
