The revised and updated edition of the guide, which was originally published under the title Fairytale Routes in History, contains 50 trips throughout Slovenia. The author, Irena Cerar , checked the situation on the ground, changed the route where necessary, and preserved the essential – the landscape and cultural-historical diversity of the destinations. We will visit castles, fortifications, city walls, military fortifications, old churches and monasteries, mills, Roman monuments and ancient sanctuaries, homesteads and a mine.

The suggested trips are generally undemanding, from shorter and easier walks to mountain trips in the Central Highlands, so everyone can find an excursion destination that suits their experience and wishes in the guide.
The basis of each described unit is a story from days gone by, a folk tale or tale and a description of the trip that takes us to the places mentioned in the story.

Comprehensive introductions about the fairy-tale and scientific view of our country's past were contributed by archaeologists ddr. Verena Perko and ethnologist dr. Monika Kropej Telban.

The book was illustrated by eleven top illustrators, and the trips are richly equipped with photos, clear maps and all the necessary information for the preparation and implementation of "fairytale routes".


The book is in Slovenian . It contains 256 pages, 300 color photos, 50 descriptions of trips and 50 illustrated Slovenian stories.
